The growth of media economics scholarship globally has increased the need to understand its development both at the international and national levels. This article focuses on development of research in China. Applying a meta-research method, the authorreviews 1257 studies. It identifies 3 unique features of Chinese media economics research, and it concludes that despite of challenges, with unique country characteristics and great market potential, there is a foreseeable prosperous future in the field in the years to come.
